Sofie Askervall

Sofie Askervall is Global Marketing Director at Natural Cycles and one of the driving forces behind the company's successful martech strategy. When Natural Cycles was announced as the winner of the MarTech Award 2024, it was a testament to the team's work and ability to combine innovation, data and strategy. We met with Sofie to hear more about how it felt winning the award, and the journey to get there.

Congratulations on the win! How did it feel to receive the MarTech Award for Natural Cycles?

Thank you very much! It felt amazing to receive the Martech Award. It's a confirmation of all the work we've put into developing and optimizing our martech strategy in a way that truly supports our vision and our goals. We’re very proud of our team and their everyday efforts to drive innovation.


What do you think is the main reason for the success of Natural Cycles?

I believe our success comes from our ability to work effectively and holistically with martech. We have set clear goals and ensure that our technology is aligned with our business strategies. In addition, we invest in solutions that not only support our growth but also provide us with a good return on investment. Our decisions are always data-driven, and we focus heavily on creating personalized and seamless digital experiences for our users, which is increasingly requested in the markets where we operate.


What has been the biggest challenge during your journey, and how have you overcome it?

One of the biggest challenges has been navigating the regulatory requirements for our markets as we, as a medical technology company, must comply with strict regulations. We have addressed this by establishing clear, well-documented workflows and by ensuring that our marketers receive regular training on the requirements that apply to each market. This allows us to continue to be innovative while ensuring that we comply with all laws and regulations.


What part of the journey with Natural Cycles are you most proud of so far?

There are so many parts I’m proud of! However, I’m most proud of our focus on building a culture where users, data, and strategy take center stage. By continuously measuring and optimizing our results, we’ve been able to make smart decisions and adapt quickly to changes. This has allowed us to grow while maintaining a high level of quality and user experience.


What do you think next year's MarTech Award winner will be recognized for? Are there any trends or innovations that you find particularly exciting right now?

I believe next year's winner will be recognized for their way of using AI and automation to create seamless customer experiences. It’s becoming increasingly important to be able to adapt marketing efforts quickly and effectively based on insights from real-time data. Companies that can leverage these technologies to truly understand their customers and create personalized experiences will be at the forefront. I consider AI-driven solutions that integrate with different platforms to improve the user journey as a particularly exciting development.


If you could look ahead, what do you see as the next big step for Natural Cycles?

The next step for us is to continue developing our international expansion and adapting our strategies to the different markets we are entering. We’ll invest in further developing our technology, and I see an opportunity for us to continue leading the market for digital contraception. We’ll also focus on strengthening our partnerships and ensuring that our martech solutions are fully integrated to optimize our marketing efforts globally.
